Building supplies
A different kind of Rust
Every item in the game can drop from every loot container. You scavenge.
Fresh spawn
You spawn in town empty-handed. Read the signs in the room.
Type /kit in chat.
The quest giver is behind the counter in the next room.
At the end of his list. They give what you cannot craft:
Your first loot: roadside crates and barrels.
Forget what you know
Blueprints still matter: you need them to repair some items.
Where everything comes from
Crates, barrels, NPCs: every normal loot source can drop any item in the game, resources included. Each container leans toward a type. Learn the pattern.
Building supplies
Fuel and ammo
Guns
Meds and food
A lean is a habit, not a rule. Anything can still drop from anything.
Pick a container. Tap it until it gives.
Rolled from the real Terminus loot tables, simplified. Your luck in game will vary.
Keep the junk
Some resources drop as loot, but your best yield is the recycler. Junk is in the loot tables on purpose: wooden arrow stacks, stone barricades, big stacks of nailgun nails, most electrical items, melee weapons and tools. Smart players keep it.
Auto Recycler
Scavenging means recycling all the time. Ranks let you do it without a machine.
/rec
Recycle straight from your inventory.
/autorec
Pick items from every icon in the game. They recycle the instant you pick them up.
The basics
Three quests at the end of the quest giver's list: Zoning and Planning, It's Hammer Time! and What a Tool. All three also drop as loot now and then.
How quests workFrom vendors or from loot.
Nothing to craft. Find food or meds.
